CareTV Room Clock Kiosk Purchase Plan

Zero-interaction orientation displays · Bathroom, bedroom, and living room · August 17, 2026

BUY / TEST / RETURNABLE NOT YET CARETV-CERTIFIED

The immediate goal is to buy three commercial Android-style kiosk displays, open one first, and prove that a CareTV room clock can recover from power loss with zero resident interaction.

What we have verified about the white OptiKiosk

Important architectural caveat: OptiSigns' own Kiosk10 documentation says the kiosk must be connected to the Internet to display OptiSigns-managed content and that its kiosk mode uses an OptiSigns subscription. CareTV's long-term goal is a local-network-first, open interface. Therefore the OptiKiosk is being purchased as a returnable hardware candidate, not as a permanently approved proprietary dependency.

Mandatory CareTV acceptance test

  1. Open only the white bathroom unit first.
  2. Configure it in landscape/horizontal orientation.
  3. Connect it to the home Wi-Fi network.
  4. Configure the CareTV clock experience as far as the hardware permits.
  5. Unplug AC power completely.
  6. Restore AC power without touching the kiosk.
  7. The kiosk must power on automatically.
  8. It must reconnect to Wi-Fi automatically.
  9. It must return to the CareTV full-screen clock automatically.
  10. Repeat the complete power-loss cycle five times.
PASS: AC lost → AC restored → self-boot → Wi-Fi reconnect → CareTV clock full-screen → zero human interaction.
FAIL: pressing Power, unlocking Android, choosing Wi-Fi, choosing an app, dismissing a dialog, re-entering a URL, or performing any remembered recovery procedure.

Why this matters

The resident should never have to maintain the appliance. A caregiver or installer performs setup once. After that, ordinary power interruptions must not create a cognitive or technical task.

If the first white kiosk passes, the same CareTV Room Clock concept can replace manually adjusted dementia clocks in the bathroom, bedroom, and living room and can be published as an open reference appliance.
