Mother Memory Preservation Plan
Recovery-safe preservation of family memories and the future mapped S: archive.
North-star use case
The memory-care software mission comes from a real household problem: a mother with no long-term memory, a vulnerable local S: drive containing memories and backups, and a need for safer storage plus simpler media navigation.
MyAnythingList / care-TV principles
- One-button or low-memory TV/media navigation.
- Large visual choices instead of hidden menus.
- Playlist-driven media access that can be maintained by a caregiver.
- Local/home-server survivability instead of fragile single-machine storage.
- Human-readable folders and public documentation.
Future mapped S: design
Mother's Windows PC S: = mapped network drive → \\MiniServer\MomArchive → backed by DAS/server storage → duplicated to offline backup → accessible from iPad Files app by SMB
Recovery rule
The damaged original S: drive should not become the new S:. It should be removed or externally attached, imaged first, and recovered from the image. The new S: should be a server share.
iPad continuity
Because the mother now relies on a 12.9-inch iPad Pro, the future archive should also be accessible by SMB from the iPad Files app, while keeping the Windows S: mapping for compatibility.
