Localization

localization_en.html

This document defines multilingual requirements for a project intended for schools worldwide.

1. Core Rule

All user-facing controls, labels, menus, prompts, and interface text must be localizable. Documentation should describe keys, translation strategy, fallback behavior, and direction handling rather than assuming English text baked into the code.

2. Structural Requirements

  • Layout must survive longer labels.
  • LTR and RTL must both be supported.
  • Generated text quality rules apply across scripts.
  • Scripting should target stable keys/identifiers rather than visible language strings where possible.

3. Relation to Rendering

Localization affects rendering because text metrics, direction, line length, and shaping can all change layout. Therefore multilingual support belongs in requirements, system, developer, media-rendering, and UI docs simultaneously.
