Media Rendering

Each playlist item is displayed as a visual panel within the wall layout. Panels may display thumbnails, websites, livestream feeds, or other supported media types.

The rendering system must preserve a recognizable visual language across builds, especially for borders, safe areas, overlays, selection behavior, and export fidelity.

Canonical rule: the live view and export output must derive from the same composition truth. Rendering shortcuts that look correct only at screen scale are not acceptable substitutes for native-resolution export rendering.

1. Rendering classes

bitmap thumbnail panels
URL-art text panels
website preview panels
livestream and media feed panels
hybrid panels with overlay metadata, QR, and footer text

2. High-resolution obligations

4K and 8K exports must render natively at target size.
Text, QR, and vector-like overlays must be redrawn from semantic layout data at export size.
Source-limited imagery is allowed only for the bitmap layer itself, never as an excuse for blurred overlays.
Text-only tiles must remain sharp because their core visual elements are generated, not inherited.

3. Rendering sequence

resolve content class and source availability
compute tile geometry and safe-area constraints
build canonical layer model
render to target context
encode according to selected output policy

4. Drift prevention

Developers must treat typography drift, QR omission, inconsistent crop behavior, and startup snap corrections as rendering bugs rather than cosmetic nuisances. The project should remain reliable for classroom, public display, and print-adjacent usage.
